Negative thoughts, toxic people
I was sitting in the sun today enjoying a quiet moment. Don’t ask me how I got here (stream of consciousness), but I began thinking of poisonous spiders, and the toxic poisons they carry. Such tiny creatures, able to cause death in animals much much larger than themselves.
It’s a remarkable invention of evolution for an animal to hold poison within its own body so that it does no harm to itself, just others. But we have that ability, too, don’t we? We can hold on to negative thoughts, toxic memories, judgments, skewed perceptions, and lock them away in our minds so we feel protected – rather than overwhelmed.
Then again, you can’t really hold those poisons in, can you? Think about it, you’ve met toxic people. They seem to inject everyone around them with negativity. The drama hidden away inside is what they try to create in other people’s lives. They probably aren’t even aware they are doing it!!
This post is just a quick reminder to look within.
What negative thoughts or judgments or fears might you be holding on to? What actions or words might be an indication of your own personal poisons?
Time to suck out the poison! More on this later. For now, practice awareness, and focus on the positive. You can create the life you dream of, the self you know is inside.
Only complain to someone who can do something about it… Effective complaining helps keep your conversations on the positive side of the street. With some people you may find you have nothing to talk about.

Just for some fun, thought I would actually share the thought process that led me to this topic. Enjoy! ![]()
That’s a cute cat. Funny that she’s hunting under the fence for something she can’t even see. What is it? Probably bugs. Bugs would be easy prey, she’s lucky she’s evolved so much. Cute how her tail keeps flicking about while she’s hunting, do you think she’s having fun? To her it’s not killing, it’s just hunting to live. She doesn’t even think once about it, so it’s pretty normal that she would enjoy the process. That’s a funny thought. Do animals ‘enjoy’ life? Kind of a funny food choice, bugs. But, hey, easy prey, not a bad living. Probably a bunch of spiders down there. Wonder if there’s any poisonous ones. They’re easy prey for humans too, but they sure have evolved ways to make life miserable for us, even though we’re thousands of times larger than them. If they’re so small, would their own poison kill them quicker? That’s kind of a precarious balance of life, to have something so poisonous inside you, with probably just a thin barrier to keep the poison from entering the rest of your body. But we kind of have that as humans, our bodies have toxic chemicals protected by thin barriers and a delicate balance. Even our own brain is able to block off thoughts we consider toxic or ‘deadly’ to our ego. Even our attitudes can be toxic. We might be injecting others with our toxic words or attitudes, and not even know it. That does come back to us though, thank goodness.
